Halloween 2008

Hello friends and family. Again we come up short on getting the Halloween pictures up quickly.
We had a great day on Halloween. The kids parade at the school was just as fun as it is every year. Hard to believe we only had two participants this year!
The day was nice enough to ride my motorcycle to work...which worked out well for my costume!

Bryce's big thrill for the night was when we got home from trick or treating...he ran and got the bathroom scale to weigh his candy bag. 10.4 lbs of candy. Ridiculous!

Rachel is always such a good sport. She always tries to match my costume... Thanks Rach!

Rach took this photo of me and my metal mistress before I rode to work.
Yes...I rode to work looking like this. :D

Fall Photos

I've been really under the weather for the last couple of days...so look... I actually have some time to post something!

A couple of weeks ago we finally dragged our family up to Park City to find a background that might work for our Fall family photos. So, between conference sessions managed to get outside for the photos below.

Once we got everyone in place and started taking photos I discovered that two of our children had temporarily tattooed their forearms. Doh! Unfortunately the temporary tattoo's were mostly permanent for a few days. (Thank goodness for Photoshop and the quick tattoo removal tool. I need to figure out how to use the quick 10 pound removal tool.)

Anyway, we look a bit disheveled but we got our pictures taken. Yay! It was cold and the wind was blowing just enough to make Jace miserable. He almost didn't make it in any of the pictures but i did manage to get four pictures of him by himself before he ran for warmth.

A HUGE shout out to Chrissy Blickenstaff for taking the pictures that I'm in! Chrissy...You're the best! We got some great pictures and probably even one we'll use for our holiday card. Yes, it's that time of year again to start thinking about the holiday card.
Thanks again Chrissy!

I think it's worth noting that the Phoeb-a-Mullet is almost gone forever! Yay!
I got boo'd for my last post about my video game machine...for being such a boring post. I know there is not much excitement or humor in this post either.

I'll get back to my regular funny/hilarious self when I'm feeling better :-)

MAME

Lately I've been working on finishing a project I started ...um ...well...years ago.
A while ago I bought an old arcade game case from our local Nicklecade with the intention of fixing it up and turning into a MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator).

A MAME is a regular stand up arcade game that allows you to play most if not all arcade games you used to back in the 80's and 90's.

Anyway... With the weather turning cold and not much riding to do... I finally started my long standing project to turn this huge piece of furniture into something useful.

I spent the weekend collecting parts and material and then shaped it into place so by this evening...I was able to get a beta version of our new MAME system up and running. Everyone is very excited so I guess I better get it buttoned up so we can play it.

Here's a sneak preview of my system... Wires hanging and control panel pulled out but you get the idea.

I'm thinking of moving it into our front room once it's done. Right next to the grand piano?

Phoeb-a-Mullet

Because of her age we thought we had dodged this bullet.

nope

Phoebe made us proud the other day by giving herself a of serious magnitude. Two simple chops with the scissors and voala! instant mullet. She did such a fine job we decided to name this cut the This mullet is very versatile and can be worn is so many ways!
hmmm, well, maybe just one.

Not only did Phoebe do her mother the favor of NOT having to do pretty hair styles for her during the next year ... Phoebe also cut her bangs as short as her eyebrows!
This newest feature of her hair style really brings the definition of "mullet" to life at our house.

Mullet: Business in the front... party in the back!

Party on Phoebe!

Party on!

Shelby had a great day today. Our family was spread all across town for soccer games with the plan to meet at 7pm for Shelby's talent show at her elementary school.

I showed up a few minutes late to Shelby's soccer game. As I walked up, Shelby was making a run at the goal. She put a move on the goal keeper and shoveled this goal in with her left foot. (Note the victorious hands)

We left the game a bit early to make it to her talent show where she was to perform a piano solo. Her mother hurried to get her out of her sweaty soccer clothes into something more appropriate.

Shelby handled that recital like it was nothing but a thing.

A goal at the soccer game and thundering applause at the recital. Shelby had a great day today! Shelby's got game!

Easter 2008

I don't have anything in particular to blog about this time. I have been getting a lot of flak for not updating my blog more often. It is what it is... I honestly look for things to blog about!

This is the Easter 2008 photo that we're claiming this year. Pictures of Tagg have been few and far between, so this is what he looks like now.

Happy Easter

The Harley

For years, I have wanted a motorcycle. To be specific, a Harley Davidson, obnoxious, stand up the hair on the back of your neck loud, 1600 cc's of mosey, hot rod of a bike.

My family has known this as well, but every year for my birthday or Christmas I would always get a miniature version to set on my desk at work or a calendar full of photos of bikes I would never own.

Well...last year...I decided that things needed to be different.

This year, I spent most of my birthday at the Harley dealer putting the final touches on the deal to purchase my 2007 Road King Custom. She's black, shiny, and just wake up the neighbors on Saturday morning perfect.

When I bought it...I didn't tell my wife what was going on. Although she suspected something was up, she didn't think I would do anything like that without talking to her... I like to tell everyone that asks how THAT went over... "There was about an hour of real awkwardness...but after that everything was okay." To Rachel's credit...she's pretty easy does it. I'm spoiled.

This picture isn't my bike...but it's identical. This year my goal is to change the handlebars out for some 12 -14 inch apes.

One of the best parts about getting a motorcycle this year is that almost every guy on our street/neighborhood got a bike this year. (About 10 of us altogether) We didn't do as much riding as we wanted to but we did get out a bit. This spring we are planning a trip to Bryce, Grand, and Zion Canyons in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. The thought of this trip is the only thing keeping me going this winter as I trudge to work in the snow and below freezing temperatures.

I couldn't help myself this evening...I took it out after work and had to dodge ice patches in the road...my hands were freezing but the sun was shining. Warmer days are ahead.
